ZPR1500 Installed

Today I’ll be reviewing the Elzetta ZPR1500, the tactical rail kit that compliments the Elzetta Tactical Flashlight Holder (review for ZFH1500 available in September archives).

As shown, the package contents are the rail, two bolts, and two nuts.

Details:

  • Made in the U.S.A.
  • MSRP under $7
  • Weight: under 0.1 oz
  • Length: about 3 and 1/8″
  • Width: less than 7/8″
  • Depth: 1/2″

Pros:

  • Ultra light
  • Quick installation – took about 2 minutes for me to remove the sling swivel accessory and install this rail
  • Installs using the same hex key that came with the flashlight mount. That is a great point for me because I have enough hex keys that I carry with my AR
  • Can be mounted on either side of the rifle

Cons:

  • It is not designed to be used in conjunction with the sling swivel kit
  • Only available in one color

This kit is very light, made from a glass-filled polymer that is designed to withstand the high temperatures and vibrations associated with normal usage of your rifle.  I have no doubt this will stand the test of time.

With it you add a 5-slot picatinny rail to your AR15 style rifle. This is perfect for those of you who have handguards without rails. There are multiple accessories that could be mounted to this rail. Te most common would probably be a small laser sight as shown below.

As you can see below, it does not add width to the rifle. In my case it doesn’t even stick out as far as the handguards.

Overall, another quality product from Elzetta. I’d have no issues recommending the flashlight holder and this kit for someone who needs to add an accessory rail to their rifle.
